5 easy but tasty Halloween treats
Tasty treats are an integral part of Halloween. Of course, you can buy ready-made snacks, but home-made food is what guests will remember for years to come. Read ahead to learn how to make 5 easy Halloween snacks!
Be ready to scream with joy because of these Halloween desserts! They're super simple to make, and most make use of ingredients you likely already have in your pantry (well, almost). Let’s go!
#1 Coffin Cookies
You will need:
- 250 grams of flour - 150 grams of butter - 100 grams of sugar - 1 tablespoon of vanilla - 1 piece of egg - 1 cup of black color icing - 1/2 cup of white color icing
First of all, preheat the oven to 180°C. Mix all the ingredients until they turn into amazing cookie dough. Spread the dough with the rolling pin and cut it with the help of a dull knife in the shape of a coffin. Bake the cookies until they are a little brown. Decorate the whole cookie with the black frosting, wait for it to dry a little and paint a skeleton or a web with the white frosting.
#2 Chocolate Bats
You will need:
- 1 cup butter, softened - 1/2 cup sugar - 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar - 1 medium egg - 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour - 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder - 1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix all the ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer. Cover the dough and chill 10 minutes. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Then cut it with the help of a dull knife in the shape of a bat. Bake 15 to 17 minutes in the oven at a temperature of 180°C. Let cool on baking sheets 5 minutes. You can also decorate your cookies with melted chocolate.
#3 "Poison" Candy Apples
You will need:
- 12 baby Granny Smith apples - 12 wooden candy apple sticks or dowels - 1 1/2 c. sugar - 1/2 c. light corn syrup - 1 tsp. black gel paste food coloring
Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing about halfway through. Set aside. Combine sugar, 3/4 cup water, corn syrup, and food coloring and bring to a boil. Insert a candy thermometer and continue to boil until temperature reaches 150°C. Coat apples in candy mixture and transfer to a prepared baking sheet. Be careful and quick — the coating is extremely hot. Let the apples cool before serving.
#4 Strawberry Ghosts
You will need:
- 30 fresh strawberries - 8 ounces white baking chocolate, chopped - 1 teaspoon shortening - 1 c. chocolate chips
Wash strawberries and gently pat with paper towels until completely dry. Melt white chocolate and shortening at 50% power, do not forget to stir until smooth. Dip strawberries in chocolate mixture. Usually, when you are dipping anything in chocolate, you are worried about coating pooling at the bottom. Not with these! Place strawberries on a prepared baking sheet and freeze 5 minutes. Melt remaining chocolate chips to draw eyes and a mouth on each ghost.
#5 Big Smiles
You will need:
- 3 apples - Jar of peanut butter or other “butter” choice - Mini marshmallows
Cut the apples into slices. You can choose any thickness you like. Put about a teaspoon or two of peanut butter onto one side of each slice. Then put a row of mini marshmallows across one apple slice. Sandwich them together and press firmly until they stick.
