Giraffes are quite miraculous creatures. They are tall, have long necks, spotted coat pattern and funny appearance. Perhaps, we all have such an image of these animals in our heads. But giraffes are not as simple as the seem. I have prepared 10 facts about these animals to prove it to you. You can't miss them!
#1 Giraffe's coat pattern is unique as human's finger print. But giraffes that live in the same area usually have quite similar patterns of spots
#2 Giraffe can grow up to 16,5 feet high, its tongue can be up to 20 inches long and it is of dark color
#3 Giraffes drink a little as they get a lot of liquid from plants they eat. They can survive without water even longer than camels
#4 Giraffes can't yawn
#5 Giraffes sleep only 5 - 120 minutes a day, usually for some minutes at a time
#6 Giraffes can run at speeds up to 35 mph but only over a short distance
#7 One female giraffe often looks after all babies when other females try to find some food
#8 Ossicones - that is how the horns of these animals are called
#9 Lions are the only predators who dare to hunt giraffes. The last use their strong hoofs to protect themselves
#10 Giraffes walk by moving both legs on the same side of their bodies together unlike most quadrupeds
