6 ways you might be ruining your kitchen without noticing it
You can do something multiple times and then – in the blink of an eye – discover you've been doing it all wrong. And that's just how life works! But we're here to help you: let's talk about the things you might have been doing wrong in your kitchen for years!
#1 Using paper towels on every surface
Sorry to burst your bubble, but paper towels are not for every surface. They are highly unsuitable for glass, wood, and varnished surface. Next time that voice whispers, "just use a paper towel," shun it and use a soft cloth instead.
#2 Storing knives improperly
A lot of us just put our knives together and store them in a cabinet, but this is detrimental to our knives. Why, you may ask. This is because the blades are not protected from clashing against each other, which weakens them. So, pick up your knives and put a protective sheath around them, or use a knife block.
#3 Using vinegar to cleanse everything
A lot of YouTube cleaning hack videos recommend vinegar for a variety of stains. While it works, it has its side effects on surfaces. Vinegar has a high acid percentage, so it wears down surfaces like hardwood, marbles, and tiles very fast. Stick with using vinegar to clean your dishwasher, sink, and refrigerator.
#4 Putting warm products in the blender cup
It's very dangerous to keep hot liquids in a blender. When you close the lid to blend, more heat is produced, which causes the cup to expand. Whenever you want to blend hot liquids in a blender cup, just remember that it can explode. Save the fire department a trip to your house by not mixing hot liquids in the blender.
#5 Cooking acidic foods on a nonstick pan
Your nonstick pan can be very convenient to cook any sauce, but it's not suitable for everything. You should put tomatoes and food that contain citrus juice far away from your nonstick pan, as they contain acids that destroy its surface. Whenever you want to cook tomatoes or add lemon juice to your dish, use a suitable pot.
#6 Washing wooden utensils in a dishwasher
Some wooden utensils are suitable for dishwashers, but most wooden spoons, dishes, and boards are not. The extremely hot temperature of the water during the process can destroy them. So, wash them the old-fashioned way by using a sponge or a soft cloth.
