This is one of the main peculiarities that differs reindeer from other species. Every year a buck loses his racks in December, while does lose it in June. Thus it's more likely that Santa's sleigh are moved by does as they still have their racks.

In the second half of June a doe gives birth to one baby deer. A reindeer fawn can walk and run soon after its birth. Mother feeds it until December then the child starts getting food itself.

It's believed Santa's sleigh is led by nine reindeer. Their names are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph. Originally, there were only eight reindeer due to the poem "The Night Before Christmas" ("A Visit from St. Nicholas") written in 1823. Later, Rudolph joined the team as Christmas song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" gained its popularity. The last reindeer was accepted as the main one because of his glowing red nose.

I can name all Seven Dwarves (Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy) All 9 Planets (Mars, Venus, Earth, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, and the dwarf planet, Pluto). And, I can also name ALL 10 Reindeer...Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, Rudolph...And Olive the other Reindeer! Get it? "ALL OF THE OTHER REINDEER"! 🦌 Bahahahahaha! 😂

Donna Wirtz Scott...Actually, it was Dunder and Blitzen was originally called Blixem, but their names were changed from Dutch, to German. The names Donner and Blitzen mean Thunder and Lightning. 🦌 😊

They can swim well enough, can eat kelp by the shore swim out to it. They taste great, Santa's not been for a while.

It always makes me laugh about the antler thing! Why on earth are we applying the rules of nature to FLYING REINDEER?! (I always assumed that there were 4 does and 4 bucks anyways. I mean, "Vixen"?)
