I love the good old days! I donot understand why you say it was such struggle! Meeting friends in the park,at the library, in a get together, having real in person conversations ..That was LIFE! And what is wrong finding knowledge through books and Encyclopedias?

Yes some things are easier with the internet. It’s certainly easier to find the lyrics to a song - I like that. But it has also led to constant connections to phones/computers, no full days off of jobs, vast amounts of misinformation, people using it from afar to harass people, connecting unscrupulous people like pedophiles or conspiracy nuts. Your commentary seems to focus on the good aspects and not the price to pay.

Hmm...not everything was good. I remember being told I could be a teacher or maybe a nurse...have loved my teaching career, but still...and luckily, I was born white in the south, because otherwise, my family’s life would have been so very different & god-awful. Oh, and antibiotics and medical advancements...

When I was young you bought and listened to records and most of us didn't have recorders to record off the radio.

It still amazes me that all I have to do is ask Google a question and I get the answer immediately LOL

It wasn’t a struggle to walk to a friend’s house, knock on the door and see if they could come and play. We got real “face time”, we connected in person, we exercised and stayed in shape as opposed to having to go to a gym, worry about weight gain and wonder if we’ve been hacked! There are advantages to modern living but a lot of disadvantages too. It’s not all good now. People are so stressed out, far more depression, obesity and lonely people.

If we wanted to connect with someone, instead of using a cell phone we had to stay home to call them. Hard line connection, and I remember the old wall phone that you had to crank to get the operator who would connect you to your party and every one would listen in on your call. That's the old party line.

I don't remember recording off the radio...we went to $1.49 day once a month at Eaton's and bought our favourite "45". No post-it notes either - we had silver thumbtacks (not push pins)...and Mom and Dad bought a set of Miriam Webster encyclopedias from a door-to-door salesman just before I started school - it included a dictionary and a book on birds that I still have...there were very good things in the old days and of course some things have improved but memories are fun
