Today almost everyone can travel around the planet. All you have to do is just to buy several airplane tickets, and several days later you can finish your journey exactly where you started. But it's not enough for some people, as they always take the road less traveled...

Here are some stories about the most shocking and fascinating trips around the globe.

#1: Laura Dekker circumnavigated the world alone, finishing at the age of 16

It took her 1 year and 5 months to finish the trip. She became the youngest person to sail solo around the planet, receiving no help from anyone.

#2: An epic run around the world

It took Rober Garside 6 years to run around the world. He visited 30 countries and all the continents except Antarctica.

#3: A round-the-world flight in a solar plane

In 2016, Solar Impulse 2 became the first solar-powered plane to finish a flight around the world. This historical circumnavigation was completed by Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg.

#4: The first flight around the world in history

It was completed by two teams. Two air crafts named "Chicago" were piloted by Lt. Leslie Arnold and Lt. Lowell Smith. Lt. John Harding and Lt. Erik Nelson piloted the "New Orleans". The trip took these 4 brave men 175 days. It was finished in 1924.

#5: A man started WALKING around the planet in 2000, finishing 11 years later

Jean Béliveau from Montreal wore 54 pairs of shoes, stayed in parks and temples and visited 64 countries. As he says, the journey taught him to appreciate the littlest things in life. The trip was dedicated to peace and non-violence.
