A. Lot of elementary school students don’t even learn cursive writing as it’s not really needed in this digital age. Bonnie

Raymond Cardona, You retain more if you take notes by hand than when you use a keyboard . If you learn cursive this is easier than printing. There is not enough support at school for the practice for it to continue but families who insist at home do give their kids an advantage. Digital fluency encourages cut and paste plagiarism and only tertiary institutions can afford adequate software to detect this. All technological advances involve negatives as well as positives. Nothing new! I cant grip a pen for long so I love the keyboard. To internalise info I do a lot of oral work now in place of writing .

All the old ways we were glad to see "improved" now we long for many of the "outdated" techniques. Now we want our privacy and freedom of speech back most of all!!

I still write letters, take cuttings from newspapers and print photos. There is nothing nicer than sitting down with young family members pouring over a photo album.

I still write letters & use my address book, lots of old people are not on the internet. Also I still get photos printed for albums, It’s so nice to look through them for the memories.

A couple of those things still happen. I still have an address book. And I have still seen cars sold on streets. I think it would be kind of fun, if a person has time to get out and get a last minute present. Some technology is good and some not. Still, making this busy life a lot simpler isn't too bad.

My mom, who was a career teacher, used to write me lengthy letters and always correct my grammar and spellings in my responses (she lived in another country). These are some of the things I miss about her.

I have a letter written to his daughters over 100years ago. He was a Captain of a ship in the merchant navy. He wrote it all in verse, talking about the crew going to Peru to collect coal and how board they all got on the long, long journey stuck on the ship.

I think a handwritten note is a lot more personal.

Still do ALL of that stuff. Refusing to join the 21st century - It's not a very friendly place.
