women were not understood then . all they were good for was breeding. Womens medicine was unheard of.It was truely sad the way women were treated

There have been many outstanding women overlooked in our society. What a shame.

Darlene Lewis, Oh! I know so well. I came from Greek American Family. WWII and KoreanWar brothers. Had to wait on them. My sister was 13 years older than me; 2 brothers were older than her and another brother no. 4 and I was no. 5. Sister wouldnt get up to get what the brothers wanted. I think she was slapped. Finally they told me to get and get whatever. I didn't revolt. I got it. I think I was the lakey there after.

Julie Domaille, Please refer to an astronomer named Fritz Zwicky who inferred the existence of "dark matter" from his observations of the Coma galaxy cluster in 1933. In fact, he was the one to coin the name "dark matter". Rubin's observations 30 years later provided the proof to substantiate the theory of "dark matter", a great achievement in cosmology. Too bad she couldn't determine what "dark matter" is, that would have been an even greater achievement, because they are still floundering around with that problem to this day, 50+ years after she substantiated its existence.

Josephine Baker was extremely well known and is not edited out of European history books. She might be in the U.S.A, but not elsewhere. As for the Physicist, She is lauded in Europe, but perhaps not in the U.S. Women who made world history are generally not edited out, but much lauded: I am sure many of these minority ethnic women form part of the History curriculum of that socio economic group. Miss Malala, who is a world icon for educated muslim women is now included in World History books. Generally, though exceptional women in the States are not remebered - they are in other countries. Take for instance Harle Jervis, first woman state director of music in the U.S. - of California, in the 1930s, no-one, except for researchers, has heard of her - she happened to be my godmother.
