Owning a dog or a cat became an ordinary thing. Dogs and cats are funny, but what about owning a spider? We enclosed the list of exotic animals for you to see.

1. Llama

A friendly and easily domesticated animal. The biggest problem is that llamas need lots of space and shelter.

2. Striped Skunk

Owning a Striped Skunk is legal in 17 stated of America. However, most owners remove their skunk's scent glands. This is not a good thing to do, since the scent glands are natural defense for this animal.

3. Serval

These African cats can be your pets. Though they are quite shy and require lots of attention.

4. Reticulated Python

Reticulated Python is the world's longest snake. It's beautiful, but quite unpredictable. That is why you shouldn't keep it if you are not ready to watch out.

5. Potbellied Pig

This fluffy pig can be trained as a dog. You should give it enough exercises to prevent obesity.

6. Hedgehog

Hedgehogs are shy and people's attention is stressful for them. There are quite alike hamsters.

7. Madagascar Hissing Cockroach

As you could guess, these cockroaches hiss a lot.

8. Emperor Scorpion

This is one of the biggest species of scorpions, though it stings rarely.

9. Chinchilla

Chinchillas are fluffy, pretty and lovely. Still they have a tendency to bite.

10. Chimpanzee

This animal is the closest to human being.

11. Mexican Redknee Tarantula

This type of Tarantula can live for almost 30 years. Besides such spiders are relatively obedient that makes them popular between spider owners.

12. Blue Crayfish

Blue Crayfishes are popular for their color. They require clean water and lots of hiding places.

13. Alligator

Having an alligator requires lots of space, time and money. Besides, you will need a special permit.

14. Axolotl

This creature is so cute! Besides it can heal itself! Still the animal is quite messy, and need a lot of clean-up.

15. Bearded Dragon

People often keep a Bearded Dragon as a pet, because of its calm temperament and longevity (up to 14 years).

16. Giant Prickly Stick

A big tropical insect looking just like a stick.

17. Hyacinth Macaw

This large parrot needs a lot of space.

18. Capybara

Capybara is the largest rodent in the world. It requires a pool for swimming and grass for grazing.

19. Freshwater Stingray

Freshwater Stingrays are very sensitive to water purity and require lots of fish.

20. Kinkajou

The honey bear is active at night mostly. If you try to wake it up during the day sleep, the Kinkajou will become angry.

A chimpanzee is neither a strange animal or suitable as a pet. As strong as seven men it is capable of inflicting serious harm, and that would be just during play. Imagine if it got angry with you. Whoever put this list together has serious irresponsibility streak.

It should be illegal to keep exotics as pets. Don't encourage idiots to obtain these animals that need to be in their natural habitat.

No, I don't think I want any of those animals as a pet, I have a dog whom I love very much.

Why in the world would anyone want a cockroach or a stick bug or an alligator for a pet. the only animal shown above (and it'd not an animal) that I'd consider as a pet is the Macaw. . I think I'll just stick with my dog. He causes me enough trouble.

Thanks but no thanks. Animals in the wild need to stay in the wild and be protected there so they can live their natural lives. We have domesticated animals and you still cannot predict their behaviour.

Thanks but I'll stick to my cat and dog. NEVER in a lifetime would I want ANY kind of spider or snake as a pet. The hedgehogs are really cute, but I used to live in England, and would see them out in the wild. I wouldn't want to see them locked up at all.

Hedgehogs and Guinea Pigs make great pets. Pot belly pigs also make great pets but you need the right space for them. Like a country setting. Some of the other ones I would not want. I live with a bearded dragon who is very much a part of the family.

None of these should be classified as pets and people should be discouraged from this practice. Thanks to human greed many of these wild animals are on the endangered list. Instead of buying the creature the money should go towards conserving their habitat.

Julie Allen, llamas and alpacas are kept and bred as domestic animals and can be friendly towards people.

Other than the llama which is commonly kept as a domestic animal I would not contemplate keeping any of them. They are wild animals and need their freedom and environment to be respected. I knew a farmer who had a llama as a companion for a rescue donkey, they used to follow the family around like dogs and were both very friendly. That's partly why I make an exception for llamas.
