The male mantis is at a disadvantage when it comes to sex , first it has to convince the female ,who is twice his size , that he is not food , then after mating he has to put her to sleep by massaging her . Then carefully he has to disengage and jump off her back and run as fast as he can before she awakens and tries to eat him !
