In our modern world many animals are endangered or threatened with extinction. Some of them have lost their homes, others can't stand the changing environmental system of the Earth. Actually, we've never even heard of some species. So let's enjoy the company of these animals today.
#1 Sunfish
This is the heaviest bony fish. Sunfish eats jellyfish and often mistakes it for plastic bags.
#2 Sumatran rhino
This type of rhinoceroses is at risk because of poaching.
#3 Snub-nosed monkeys
These unusual monkeys, endemic to northern Vietnam, were considered extinct for a while. However, in 1989 snub-nosed monkeys were found again. They are critically endangered primates.
#4 Desman
This phenomenal animal resembles an elephant, rat and mole at the same time! Its fur is very unusual as it is thin at the root and thick at the end.
#5 Hooded Seal
This kind of hood is typical for mature males. The species are endangered by global warming as it can reduce their habitat.
#6 Rufous hare wallaby
The lives of these small animals from Australia highly depend on rains. Precipitation deficits have a direct impact on grass which is vital food for their youngsters.
#7 Numbat
Look at this small cutie! It is also native to Australia. Surprisingly, numbats have a very long tongue. It helps them to get termites which is their only food.
#8 Omura’s whale
Omura’ whale is a very mysterious animal. It lives near Madagascar though these warm waters are not for whales.
#9 Fossa
The fossa is native to Madagascar and it is the largest carnivorous mammal on the island. They feed on lemurs who are also considered to be endemic! The extinction of the fossa would have a high impact on the world's eco-system.
#10 Leatherback sea turtle
These are the largest turtles in the world. They are so big that one of the turtles has a record in the Guinness Book of World Records. The leatherback sea turtles can easily be distinguished from any other turtles while they don't have bony shells on the backs.
#11 Ili pika
These small furry animals are native to China. They live high in the Tianshan Mountains so one should try hard to find them.
#12 Saola
Saola is often called the Asian unicorn. This animal is found in Laos and Vietnam only and is one of the rarest mammals on our planet.
