A giant reserve will be built in China to save the Amur tigers
You won't believe how big this tiger reserve is planned to be!
Chinese authorities announced their decision to build a giant reserve for leopards and tigers in the north-east of the country. These measures are taken to save the two species of feline that are on the brink of extinction - the Amur leopard and the Amur tiger.
The park will be located in the territory of two provinces of Jilin and Heilongjiang and will become a part of the new system of national parks in China. Its area will be about 14.5 thousand square kilometers, which is 60% more than the Yellowstone National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A full-scale plan will be submitted in 2020.
