Vampires exist: little-known information about bats
What do we know about mysterious bats? They are usually associated with the evil spirits due to one small peculiarity: bats drink blood. Are they as scary as they are depicted in films? This article will clarify the matter. Do you have the guts to learn more?
Bats are graded as Chiroptera specie. More than thousand types of these small flying creatures exist in the world and, despite of the popular opinion, there are only three types of bats that feed on blood. Bats are nocturnal animals, that's one of the reasons why people are scared.
In fact, bats are cute.
Most of them feed on many food sources, including nectar, pollen, insects, fruit, fish, and meat. Those who drink blood are not evil at all. They care about each other and their bites are painless due to the anesthetic in their saliva. This anesthetic can be even helpful for people - it prevents blood clotting. Thus bat's transgenic saliva was used for apoplectic attack preventive care.
The only reason to stay away from blood drinking bats is that they are disease carriers. However blood is vital for them. Vampire bats have to eat much, for blood is rich with protein but lacks carbohydrates. They can not stand two days starvation.
Nature cared for bats: they are good hunters and have special sensors that give them all the necessary info about their victim - they can even recognize your breath.
