Many of us are keen on cats: it is the most popular pet. Those who don’t have a pet cat are fascinated by them in Internet. But nobody loves cats more than themselves!

#1 Majestic meow

This vocalization is not used by cats for communication with each other. They use it addressing people. It is a means of drawing our attention. It can be a friendly meow or a demanding one. Just with one “meow” these adorable animals can manipulate you. However, if you say “meow” back to your cat, they can be confused thinking why you ask them for help.

#2 Cat’s vision

Cats don’t see the world like we do. Their eyesight is adapted to different purposes, for example, hunting or the necessity to see in the dark. Cats’ color perception is not so bright as ours. According to researchers, felines aren't able to see red, orange or brown colors, they can’t see objects far away or too close to them clearly. However, their night vision is 6 times stronger than ours. Besides they have a special reflective tissue layer that makes their eyes glowing in the dark.

#3 No daily regime

Cats live without any schedule 24 hours 7 days a week. They sleep when they want to. So, don’t be surprised if your beloved pet wants to play at 3 a.m.

#4 Smart beyond the years

Some say 1 human year is equal to 7 cat years. But in reality, first 2 years of a cat life equal to 25 years of a human life. After that, each year of our life equals to 4 cat years. By the way, the oldest cat that has ever lived is Crème Puff. She’s lived for 38 years.

#5 Do what I say

Cats ask you to open the door and then refuse to come in. That’s not a game or a bad character. It is the way to control the territory and minimize the dangers that can be behind closed doors. So, thank you, a human being, for opening the door, you can go now.

#6 Fussy eaters

I’ll check my meal and then refuse it. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Cats smell their food for a while, deciding whether to eat it or not. Even if it is tasty. Even if a cat is very hungry. And again, the reason is not their moods. While they don’t see objects that are very close to them cats spend some time analyzing, what kind of food it is and its temperature. Clever of them!

#7 Sweet dreams

The human brain is active in sleep. The same is true about the cat brain. Cats also see dreams though probably not the way we do. Anything your cat does or sees during the day is processed in their brain and can result in dreams.

#8 What do cats think of us?

Cats think we are also cats, very big ones and not very graceful. Cats treat all family members differently, they know what can work with one person and what with another. Their behavior and actions towards their owners are derived from mother–kitten relations. That is why they are purring or kneading us when they feel good and safe. And that makes them more adorable.

I found my first cat in 2007. That is, I got my first very own cat. (All prior were family cats.) Two months after rescue, the vet told me to spoil her as she had kidney failure and wouldn't last more than a couple of months. Fast forward to July 2019 ... my dear 19-year-old Cali was too sick to continue. Never a lap cat, I was totally brought to tears at the hospital when she got on my lap, pulled herself up my chest and gave me the biggest hug! Special cat ... not the one I wanted, but definitely the cat I needed. Oh, she also comforted my brother during his final illness.

4 cats ranging from 1 yr to 17 yrs. All different personalities and it keeps me on my toes trying to keep up with their ever changing wants and needs - wouldn't trade them for the world.

We had a beautiful kitty for 15 years, she got cancer in her leg and sadly we had to put her down. She was a very smart girl and learned how to say hello all on her own. We taught her to sit and shake when it was time to give her a treat. She was such a good girl and we miss her.

For Lynne Cage -- To ka is a lovable cat especially during your injury. My Kenji did the same thing when I was sick one day, he stayed with me all day/night. He's very loving. They are the boss(es) of our homes & we don't mind a bit. For Linda Spreng -- It sounds like Cali was a special special girl, I'm sorry for your loss. No matter how long we have them & others that we live it doesn't seem to be enough time either human or not.

For L Lh Adam's-- You should NEVER EVER shoot it harm cats bc they feel pain just like you do & that's murder. I think that's absolutely horrible & it's way beyond contempt & its completely inappropriate & incorrect behavior for anyone to do!! Cats deserve love, respect, etc just like people. We have two cats that are brothers from the same litter, but their personalities are completely different. Nick is laid back and easy going. Alex is stubborn and seems to pout when things don't go his way. He is upset when I am gone and will refuse to eat treats. He is my cat while Nick is my husband's cat.
