You didn't realize how cute they can be – the most unusual salamander species

These amphibians that look like a cross between a frog and a lizard have been on Earth for more than 300 million years, which means they appeared 40 million years prior to dinosaurs. With no doubt, salamanders can look absolutely gorgeous.

Fascinating creatures... I had 2 newts for 33 years. They were given to my son as a birthday present in 1979. I inherited them when he went to university and they lived until the summer of 2012 dying within 2 months of one another.
