6 things that might not be as healthy as we think
Today, we’re talking about six popular healthy eating recommendations that deserve a once-over...
For hundreds of years, people have been arguing about the right way to eat. There’s no surprise then that plenty of advice that was once considered gospel turned out to be sketchy, once the science was in...
#1 Dried Fruit

Proposed as a great alternative to candy, dried fruit can contain scary amounts of sugar. Moreover, the food coloring some companies use can stain your teeth.
It's important to choose dried fruit carefully. Of course, the best option is always to dehydrate fresh fruit yourself.
#2 Agave Syrup
Agave syrup is supposed to be a healthy, natural sugar alternative. But it’s highly processed and very high in fructose, which can be dangerous for the liver and cause unwanted weight gain.
#3 Tea

If you’ve ever been told to substitute your coffee with tea to avoid caffeine or teeth stains but didn't take that piece of advice seriously, you were right. Many teas also contain caffeine and should be consumed sparingly. And tea also stains your teeth.
If you still want to switch from coffee to tea, better stick with herbal teas, which usually don't contain caffeine.
#4 Green Juice
Recommended as a good way to get your vitamins, popular green juice is not as good as other fruit and vegetable juices. Multi-colored fruit and veggies have fiber which help with nutrient absorption as well as general gut health.
Green juice, on the contrary, doesn't contain the minimum amount of fiber to help your digestive system work better.
#5 Protein Powder

Adding protein powder to meals is not necessary, especially if you're not a professional athlete. As long as you have a balanced diet, protein deficiency won’t be a problem even for most people hitting the gym.
#6 Lemon Water

It’s a great and tasty way to start the day, but be careful if you’ve got acid reflux. Lemon water can make this condition worse. Plus the acidity from the lemons can be harmful to your teeth.
What do you think about these pieces of advice? Do you know any other healthy eating guidelines that turned out to by myths?
