Our genes are very complex and form fantastic combinations that one can hardly predict. Take a look at 7 anomalies that turned out to be people's strengths and made these people unique.
#1 Vitiligo
It is a condition that causes the loss of skin pigment. This process can’t be stopped however it can be slowed down. For example, Winnie Harlow, a model with vitiligo, isn’t upset about the spots of vitiligo. She is proud of them.
#2 Piebaldism
This is another rare genetic condition characterized by a white lock of hair. The reason for that condition is the absence of melanocytes in certain areas of hair. This magical lock presents at birth and doesn’t change its size throughout life.
#3 Albinism
This syndrome is known all over the world. People of different nationalities can have it. Albino people look different, as their skin, eyes and hair miss colour.
#4 Heterochromia iridum
Simply it is called multiple colors in eyes: a person can have one blue and one green eye.
#5 Distichiasis
Distichiasis is characterised by an additional row of eyelashes. This condition can make your eyes look more attractive though if the lashes grow unevenly they cause a lot of inconveniences.
#6 Cleft chin
A cleft chin is the result of genetics. The chin bones didn't fuse during an embryo’s development.
#7 Ocular albinism
This rare condition involves eyes only. The pigment disappears from the iris. If you see a person with blue eyes though their family members are dark-eyed, they are ocular albinos.

Albinism is not a condition that one would envy. It's not uncommon for the patient to be blind and it is even dangerous to be outside in the sun as the rays actually burn their skin and they have no organic defense against ultra-violet rays (i.e no melanin).

Genetics simply put. In Africa being an albino is bad news for the mother and child because the people think they are 'cursed'. I studied genetics. All were truly beautiful and unique. It's nature's way of evolution. Be well and safe.

I have vitiligo, and there is nothing beautiful about it. Lately, models with it have been featured, but i think that is just an effort toward being inclusive.

I don't find these conditions beautiful. As others have stated, albinism is a huge disadvantage, especially if one lives in a warmer climate.

murphgrl, I think I can identify with that somewhat, being mostly right handed, but can use my left hand for mascara if needed, cutting toenails. I brush my teeth with my left hand only!

Gary Carnes, a high school friend suffered!? heterochromia iridium but It didn't slow him down! He was a magician, a juggler , comedian & actor! There was nothing he lacked , he simply put more effort into the things he enjoyed!

A strange situation is handedness. My parents righties, as my brother. I am a lefty as are my 5 cousins on moms side and 6 on my dads side. Later in life while seeing an orthopedist for thumb joint pain I told her I was ambidextrous - she gave me a test and yup I am. The only true advantage is that I can apply mascara to both eyes by simply switching hands. Doc asked me if I poked me eye out - nope never.

People who have parents with dark eyes , let’s say brown can have a blue eyed baby due to dominant and recessive genes. If both parents carry the recessive blue eyed gene yet have brown eyes they can pass the recessive gene to their offspring. If both parents pass on the blue eyed gene to their offspring , the offspring will have blue eyes. That has nothing to do with Ocular Albinism.
