Known this a while. UK supermarkets really don't cater for single people so fresh fruit and veg can go off long before they can all be eaten. It's just a question of adapting your recipes to suit frozen produce.

I knew this, I have not bought canned veggies in years. Flash-freezing means produce is picked, blanched and quickly frozen to avoid ice crystals from forming. Not all produce in the freezer section is flash-frozen. There is no requirement for frozen food companies to label how their produce is frozen. The only requirement from the FDA is that if a company chooses to include information about how the produce is frozen on the label, it must be truthful.

Educational information. I eat fresh fruits and veggies only when in season. Fortunately in California we have a lot of fresh produce. Otherwise I will choose frozen but never canned.
