#1 Check-in for your flight in advance

Be sure to check-in for your flight online 24 hours in advance so you don’t have to wait in line once you get to the airport. You can do it on the site of your airline company or in its mobile app. This tip will definitely save your time and keep your nerves calm. This can also be a great way to get a good seat assignment.

#2 Dress in layers

It may be tempting to put on that big bulky jacket, however, it will probably turn into a problem. The “layering system” is essentially a way of layering clothes together to ensure you are comfortable while at the airport and on your flight. Airports and airplanes can either be extremely cold or extremely hot and usually, there’s no happy in-between.

#3 Take a photo of your checked luggage and put a colorful ribbon on it

Sometimes checked luggage gets lost but if you have a photo of it in addition to your luggage receipt, this will help to find it much faster. A colorful ribbon on the handle of your suitcase will be also of great help.

#4 Go left at the security

Studies have shown that people naturally veer right, so when you reach a security checkpoint, head to the line furthest to the left and you just might save a few minutes waiting in line. By the way, never join the security queue with kids in.

Pack your own snack, it is a great airport hack to save money. Take your own sandwich, nuts and cereal bars, candy and other fruits, if you're on a budget. What’s more, pack an empty water bottle with you. Most airports have water bottle refill stations or at least a water fountain. This can help you save money instead of buying an overpriced water bottle at the airport.

#6 Buy a portable charger

Not all airports have convenient outlets or charging stations while you’re waiting at the gate. You’ll find the device to be useful not only at the airport but also during your flight or even during your trip.

#7 Have your laptop and other electronics ready

You will have to take your laptop or any other large electronics out of your bag when going through security. Keep them separated from the rest of your luggage to save time. Moreover, some passengers are asked to turn on all electronic devices. That’s why, make sure that your laptop is in sleep mode.

#8 Bring a hand sanitizer

Planes and airports are notoriously germy places. That’s why pack a travel-sized hand sanitizer wherever you go.

#9 Wear socks

You are still required to take off your shoes in order to pass through the metal detectors in most airports. That’s why don’t forget to wear socks or at least take them with you.

#10 Remove all the Crown Jewels

Keep jewelry, belts, cell phones tucked in your carry-on. Put valuables like jewelry and keys in the pockets of your jacket before you put your jacket through the X-ray. Better yet, use packing sacs to organize your small gear before you even arrive at the security line.

Just take a couple of pictures after parking and you won’t need to remember the details. When you return back home, you will easily find the car.

Take a bandanna or handkerchief with you on the plane to use as a face wipe if it’s too hot in the plane or a neck warmer if it’s too cold. Have an extra zip lock bag or two with you. Any snack you bring with you can be preserved/kept clean if the wrapping falls apart. Zip locks are also handy for holding a moistened/dirty bandanna after it’s been used. Always carry lotion (in the small, allowed-size container) and lip ice with you because airplane air is dry. Take an actual paper book with you in case no electronics are allowed or a layover is long and you can’t get to a recharging place after your backup charger runs out of juice.
