I could read the sign in number 4. It says: ‘Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea and breathe the wild air.’ Great advice I would have thought.

Some of these were really funny! The lizard would have freaked me out & I would never open my door let alone take a swim. Hotels have been known to advertise amenities that aren't really as good as they sound but some of these are ridiculous! The brick wall outside the patio door was the worst with the balcony coming in at a close second. The one about Braille was just awful. Makes me wonder if it was in a foreign country & there was a communication problem.

Well at least the person with a locked balcony door 🚪 still has an awesome view.

flanderschristy, it's not only hotels that the stretch the real estate truth. Real Estate agents do that as well. For example a house that was for sale down the from me some years ago was advertised as having a park like front yard. In reality it was a tiny garden with a two seater bench. I guess the two the seater bench made it park like 🤷‍♀️?

#12 isn't unusual, I've seen that sign on the A/C units under the window in a lot of budget Motels across the USA, same thing with #6, a bright security light shining directly at the window.

Oh, I didn’t mention breakfast. Why can’t I make a Belgian waffle by pouring in two cups of mix - that promptly poured over the side and created a huge mess. Trying to cook their waffles with the waffle maker turned vertically (yes, it poured out before it set), using the drip tray on the coffee and juice as a sink - and standing there while it pours out on the floor. Putting other foods in a toaster (even fish). Wanting to know why breakfast wasn’t open at 9 PM. And expecting us to serve “snacks” throughout the day. ??? Is this London? You expect tea and crumpets at 4??

Putting instructions as to where the thermostat is isn’t so far fetched. I’ve had guests who said their heat didn’t work. I pushed the ON button. Couldn’t get in their room - they were waving the key at the door. Who complained AFTER the fact that they felt uncomfortable without curtains, I pulled the black out drapes closed. And basics like getting the shower to turn on, plugging the tub, and of course the hot tub that doesn’t work because they used the Emergenxy Button.

This isn't about a hotel, but a motel that my husband and I stayed in. We were on our honeymoon and stopped for the night at a motel. When I went to the bathroom I found a plant of some kind growing out of the wall next to the toilet. The shower wasn't much better and we slept on top of the covers afraid to pull them down for fear of finding them filthy. We had a very uneasy night all around. That was in the northern part of Tennessee, I think. Its been many years since then, May of 1971.

Joy Holbrook, Except it says "drink the wild air," which is a bit strange. But it is easy to read.

The Braille one was designed by the guy who also designed the Braille ATM drive-through. The monitor lizard isn't quite enjoying his natural habitat unless he went to MIT. The lobby decor in #9 made me throw up in my mouth.
