Lesley Gore wrote a string of chart-topping hits over her five decades long career, but the "You Don't Own Me" singer turns out to have lived a much less glamorous life than many might have imagined for her. Despite having recorded 13 studio albums, 6 compilation albums, and 37 singles, the songwriter, who died in February of 2015, at the age of 68, left behind a meager $50K estate. According to documents obtained by Page Six, she willed her estate to her partner of 33 years, Lois Sasson. The musician died of lung cancer at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, despite being a nonsmoker. Gore's will, from 2012, states that if her partner were to die before her, the secondary recipient should be her brother Michael Gore, who co-wrote their Oscar nominated song "Out Here On My Own" for the 1980 film "Fame".

Her brother Michael is a songwriter. She collaborated with him on the film "Fame." They wrote "Out Here On My own" together, sang by Irene Cara in the film an released as as a single.

Lesley was born "Lesley Sue Goldstein", not "Lesley Gore Goldstein". Make sure you have the correct information, on someone, before you post, about them. Other than that, Lesley Gore was a great singer. My late, older sister had a few of her 45's, and she would play them, on her "Stereo Record Player," all the time. That's how I knew who Lesley Gore was. My favourite song, by her, is probably, "You Don't Own Me"!

I absolutely LOVE Lesley Gore! Her songs just bring you "up" when you are feeling a little down. I remember listening to her songs when I was young. She is fantastic.
