I willingly pay the markup for books. Prefer the feel of a book in my hands over the fell of a smart phone or a kindle. The rest I agree with wholeheartedly.

I’m not surprised at these over priced items. I will never wear branded clothing as why should I give the company free advertising. Bonnie

I'd rather pay more for a real book than an e-book

I've been buying generic/store brands all my life! As an adolescent my Dad & Mom bought me a pair of Wrangler jeans & Monty Wards name brand. The Wranglers wore out before the Monty Wards did! Later in life I discovered that the only jeans that outlasted any others was Levi's but that was 40 years ago when Levi's were still produced in the U.S. of A! They might very well be the same as any other denims nowadays!

That's why the rich get rich and the poor remain poor .Spend wisely and appreciate how hard you had to work to accumulate your disposable income without wasting it on overpriced services and goods.

Many years ago,I worked at a factory that produced central air conditioners. The only difference between the high priced and cheaper ones was stickers applied in the last process.

Paper books? Totally disagree with that one. And #5 has me puzzled. Buying a soft drink and popcorn at the cinema is more expensive, but it's all part of the experience. I will agree with the others, though.

Rx drugs are a huge rip off, we go to Mexico, same drug, same dosage, same maker about 1/10 of US prices, Canada drugs also much cheaper...

Raymond Cardona, I can only find my size for work pants at Express. I buy them when they have specials. They do last for years.

hughbran,I agree with you! If I don't want the book any more, I can give it to a friend or sell it to a second hand book store. And if I really like it, or need it for research purposes, I can keep it and use it forever. Paper books for me!

I don't own a computer so e books are not considered by me. I usually check prices before I buy something. Brand names are always higher and in food products the difference in quality is obvious. Everything costs more if you buy it outside of your home.

L Lh Adams, I remember buying a vehicle battery from a specialist outlet (only sold vehicle batteries) I was asked which brand I wanted or if I would like one of a selection of own brand. The difference was the price, the length of the warranty and what sticker was put on it. I was a bit short of money at the time and took the cheapest which was still working fine 5 years later when I scrapped the car.

I tried an e-book and gave it back to the person who loaned it to with the book I started part read. Far prefer real books especially for reference. A paperback novel can easily be passed to a friend and then onto a charity shop.
