I willingly pay the markup for books. Prefer the feel of a book in my hands over the fell of a smart phone or a kindle. The rest I agree with wholeheartedly.

I've been buying generic/store brands all my life! As an adolescent my Dad & Mom bought me a pair of Wrangler jeans & Monty Wards name brand. The Wranglers wore out before the Monty Wards did! Later in life I discovered that the only jeans that outlasted any others was Levi's but that was 40 years ago when Levi's were still produced in the U.S. of A! They might very well be the same as any other denims nowadays!

I’m not surprised at these over priced items. I will never wear branded clothing as why should I give the company free advertising. Bonnie

Many years ago,I worked at a factory that produced central air conditioners. The only difference between the high priced and cheaper ones was stickers applied in the last process.

I'd rather pay more for a real book than an e-book

I quit using ink jet printers years ago. Whenever I wanted to print anything, the cartridge was always clogged. Had to prime it which used a lot of ink. Switched to laser printer - all black and white, but a toner cartridge is always ready and lasts for years. Third party toner cartridges costs are very reasonable.

That's why the rich get rich and the poor remain poor .Spend wisely and appreciate how hard you had to work to accumulate your disposable income without wasting it on overpriced services and goods.

Paper books? Totally disagree with that one. And #5 has me puzzled. Buying a soft drink and popcorn at the cinema is more expensive, but it's all part of the experience. I will agree with the others, though.

Some things may be overpriced but For me your holiday starts at the airport. Once I’ve checked in and got rid of my luggage I’m in holiday mode and overpriced meals and drinks so what, I’m on holiday. The same goes for the cinema, popcorn not for me but I would never deny my grandchildren or the slush drinks with all the colourings in that will have them hyper for hours. It’s all part of the fun and the cinema experience. I also love the feeling of a book in my hand, turning the page is quite satisfying for me. Can understand the ink thing and branded clothes to an extent although I think you’d feel better dressed head to toe in designer brands than Primani

Costco sells great clothes for good prices and have excellent sales - and they even have branded clothing at far lower prices.

I might agree with four of the above points, but not for paper books and all branded clothes. Paper books might appear to be expensive just 'cause we have e-books today. However, if you look at the quality of some of the writings, even e-books are expensive. No publisher will invest any money in their publication. I agree that self-published paper books might be overpriced 'cause the publisher makes money from the writer and actually it is the author who loses. Publishers rarely help in promoting the books since they have no real investment in them. Again, when the publisher invest in a book, there is no reason why he and the author should not be paid for their efforts. As far as branded clothes are concerned, the quality brands of the past were far more meticulous in quality of fabric and individual fits. At times it is worth paying their price. However the same cannot be said for all branded clothes, even fact, sometimes I wonder why people even wear them.
