Rats make great pets but there are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, they like wine and coffee, so your drinks are not safe. Secondly, they have been known to nibble clothes so it is best to cuddle them in something expendable. Thirdly, they only live two or three years so you are guaranteed fairly frequent heartbreaks when they die. Apart from that, they are friendly, intelligent and fun. Their bad press is undeserved. Just buy from a responsible breeder.

They all looked more like mice than rats. Rats also cause disease.

Just about ANY creature, put into the right backgrounds and with the right props can appear “adorable”. Even ones that are the cause of such misery.

No pictures of the rats that roam the train tracks of the New York City Transit system. I never heard one person yell " What a cute looking rat"!!.... usually hear screams of fright!!....🤯
