We don’t need a polygraph detector to find out whether a person is lying. We just need to be a little bit more attentive and to know four main features of a deceptive message!

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, it is typical of humans to lie. Every day we get a great deal of messages that are not true. Some of these lies are quite harmless, but others may negatively affect our life or make us do a wrong thing. However, there is a simple way to nail down a lie that everybody is able to use.

This way is called a linguistic text analysis. Even if you don’t see or hear a person, but just read his/her message, you can easily apply the following method to understand whether this person is honest. What says too much says nothing applies. People who lie regularly usually talk in circles, and when asked a direct question, they go around the world and never give a direct clear answer. It's very irritating to listen to a long, drawn out big fat lie.

You can be telling the truth and still be accused of lying 🤥. People don't name names for fear of being sued.

I remember a talk by a police officer about analyzing statements made by suspects. The officer told us aperson telling the truth is more likely to say "I did this" or "I saw that." But when a suspect is trying to hide something, he'll, or she, will say, "someone suggested we all all go to the party" or "then one thing happened after another" The indefinite pronoun, or lack of the first person pronoun is a clue that the individual doesn't want to take responsibility for his/her actions.
