Year after year time seems to run faster and faster and brings about more and more changes to our life. It is most noticeable in metropolitan cities - many of them looked completely different only a few decades ago.

I think it's interesting but the after's don't appear to have been taken at the same location as the before's.

These are only a few of the cities that have changed in the last 50 years. It would have been interesting if the pictures could have been of the same locations, instead of some other angles or sites.

I agree with all of you! It would be interesting to see the difference with pictures from the same location and in black & white. Some of the changes are NOT for the better. Especially Fortaleza, Brazil. What a way to destroy a beautiful coastline!

THE CITIES HAVE LOST THEIR EARLIER ORIGINAL LOOK AND HAVE BECOME SIMILAR LOOKING CONCRETE JUNGLES.

Wow, how much cities have changed, even though maybe the locations are different in the befores and the nows, I get the idea. Dubai has certainly grown.

I agree that many of the changes are simply progress and don’t really show you how radically a city has changed. The Melbourne1920s view still has many of the same buildings still standing now, but the second shot along the Yarra River was built on waste land and has added another dimension to our city.

If the before and after photos aren't taken from the same spot, it doesn't giver an idea at all. Pointless.

While I understand they weren't all taken at the exact same site (Melbourne for a start, as that is Southbank, along the river), some of these I definitely prefer the before shot. (My dear Melbourne included) Sometimes, such vast change takes away a lot of charm.

A lot of those photos show 70-80 years of change, Toronto shows 92 yrs. of change, Melbourne shows 102 years of change, no kidding things have changed! Things unthinkable in the before photos.

It shows how progressive the country is. Unfortunately the "before" was not the "after" as shown in the picture - seems they are on different places/location.
