In Europe students learn that there are 5 continents. I discovered this in discussion with a very intelligent German friend. When I mentioned 7 continents, she asked me to name them. So I said “ North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antartica”. She said that North and South America were attached. I said they were attached by the isthmus of Panama and that Europe was attached to Asia by Russia. She thought for a moment and said “we will speak of this no more”. Difficult to unlearn something.

In fact Africa also is connected to Eurasia at Sinia peninsula in Egypt. The Suez canal is manmade.

A lot of Asia is Communist or was and is still ruled by thé likes of Dictator Putin. Yet there are more billionaires and also more poverty. I guess communism doesn’t really work does it, it only controls the people, enriches the oligarchs so they can be powerful.
