Very interesting how these famous folks came to the world. I am one who did not know that my father was not my biological father until both my mother and father transitioned. I always wondered why I was so different from my siblings. It turns out my bio dad was a high school science teacher, hence my love for science. I am the only one who left Kenya and was in a position to support the family after I came to America. Everything happens for a reason. I am glad my step father treated me like I was his own, and forbade my siblings from ever telling me I was not his. I would not want to change my life path so far.

In Colombia the son of a washing woman rose to become president of the country. Keep up stories like these to instruct and inspire us to treat everybody with respect regardless of origin, education, color of skin, etc

Nobody in this world is Illegitimate. In Germany they changed the term 'Uneheliche Kinder' in 'Nicht Eheliche Kinder', meaning children of unmarried couples than children of illegitmate birth.

I admire all of those people who rose from troubled pasts to bring themselves up in the world. God bless them . Those who gave them up were the real losers! Enjoyed these educational facts. Thank you.

Interesting but I don’t think it matters if they were born to parents who weren’t married or were married.

Stafford Lombard, Right, parents are illegitimate. Their act is illegitimate not the child.

In Germany, the use of the word 'Illegitimate' is not encouraged.Instead 'uneheliches kind' or a 'child out of wedlock' is used, because nobody is illegitimate in the eyes of the law.

There is no such thing as illegitimate children, only unmarried parents. Marriage is less than 5000 old, probably less than 3000 old, and devised to resolve property issues, so all children born before then were considered part of the mother’s family into which they were born. It is one of the failures of religion that, in trying to stabilise the rearing of children, they sought to punish unmarried mothers.

I am the nonbiological dad to a brilliant son, and a surrogate dad to others. Sometimes they just need more than what single mom can give.

Others who were born in this fashion but went on to great things are Philip Lynott of Thin Lizzy and Anni-Frid Lyngstad of Abba.

Economic situations often determine whether a child is kept by the mother or not.

I wonder if others will join me in not using the term illegitimate children. I do not use the term illegitimate parents, but that is where the "fault" lies although there is no fault if the parents do an adequate job of nurturing their children.

And Steve Jobs denied his daughter until she was an adult and her mother was forced to go on welfare to support her.

Do you think that maybe they were given up for a reason other than the parent (usually the mother because the father was only around for conception) was a loser??? Health, living conditions, monetary concerns, maturity, family pressure, are all valuable reasons. Not because they were losers.
