Pallas's cats: super fluffy and cute wildcats are within an inch of extinction

Conservationists in Russia have decided to designate a 32-square-kilometre (12-square-mile) piece of land inside the Sailyugemsky Nature Park as a sanctuary for the extremely rare and endangered Pallas's cats (Otocolobus manul).

Margie Lewis You'll lose that bet. These cats WERE never domesticated. Otocolobus manul, or Pallas' s cat, is estimated to have diverged from a leopard cat ancestor about 5.19 million years ago and are now classified as "Near Threatened". By the way, the mountain range you mention is called either the Altai or Altay mountains.
