The Earth and Moon were formed by the collision of two protoplanets. There is no evidence for any body other than the Moon orbiting the Earth.

By the time my great grandkids are adults these “facts” will have been replaced by new fads. By then they may realize that, “in the beginning God created…”

This is quiz club so I will be checking these "facts" with other sources. I'm afraid they have proven to be less than truthful in the past.

Remember reading a book by Carl Sagan in the 60s where he claimed the moon had been knocked off the earth leaving the Pacific ocean, it was dismissed by other scientists but I'm interested to see it is coming back. Mind you there have been a lot of other discoveries, when I first started studying Geology the general theory of plate techtonics had been rejected (it was first proposed in the early 20th century) but by the time I got my degree (in Geology and Geography) it wasm firmly back in the sylabus.

Harry Rogers, True! The price of gold is determined by the amount of gold we have. If the extra gold went into the supply chain, gold would become worthless. But the price could be artificially defined by a company or entity controlling the amount that was available. This is how the price of diamonds is kept high.

Interesting thing about gold. The reason why gold is expensive is because it is rare. If gold were more plentiful and readily available, then the price of gold will drop drastically.
