The answers to these 5 tricky questions about the world will feed your curiosity
The most curious and interesting questions usually come to our mind while we're living our everyday life. Read this article to learn more about the universe, deleted files and the power of the human jump.
Choose the right answer yourself: the center of the universe is everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
The universe has been expanding from the moment it appeared 14 billion years ago. It started with the Big Bang, but we shouldn't perceive it as an ordinary explosion. The universe is not expanding from some center: it has always been expanding equally at all places.
The total weight of all humans on Earth is around 800 billion pounds (363 billion kilograms). This might seem as an impressive number, but not when compared to the total mass of Earth, which is approximately 1.3166×1025 pounds (5.9722×1024 kg). If all the humans at their current locations jumped at once, the impact would be VERY tiny.
But what if we all get together at one place and jump? This would push our planet! But not so far – the Earth would move 5.3*10-14 meters away from us, which is 1/100th of the width of a single atom. It would return to the previous position as soon as humans touch land again.
This question may seem easy, but in fact is quite complicated. The answer depends on what you mean by money. There are 4 categories that can help you undestand it better:
M0: the narrowest definition of money, which includes only physical forms of money: paper bills and metal coins. This amount is around 5 trillion US dollars. Sounds huge? Well, it's barely 10% of the money humans are able to spend now.
M1: this one includes all the physical money and other money that can be easily and quickly accessed, like checking accounts and demand deposits. It is estimated to be equivalent of 25 trillion US dollars.
M2: this includes M0, M1, and the money that can't be accessed quickly, such as saving deposits. M2 is around 60 trillion US dollars.
M3 includes all of the above plus long term deposits, institutional money market funds, short term repurchase agreements, etc. It's around 75 trillion US dollars, which is the broadest answer to our question.
In books and cartoons, mirrors are often depicted white or silver. A perfect mirror would reflect all possible colors, which would make it white (white is the blending of all colors). Real mirrors are made up of atoms that give any reflection a slight green tinge, as they reflect green light more strongly than the rest of the colors. Technically, it makes all the mirrors green.
You can check it yourself: place two mirrors opposite to each other so they create a "mirror tunnel". When you do this, you see multiple reflections, where all the colors gradually fade away. Except green! The center of this tunnel usually looks fully green.
When you empty the Recycle Bin, it seems like your deleted files disappear completely. But how is that possible and where do they go? In fact, you only delete the reference to the file, which means your device can no longer read it. But the file is still there, the space it took is just no longer reserved for it.
The file will not be available only when other information will be written in its location. That's why it's possible to restore permanently deleted files with data recovery software: it just makes your computer see the file again. It also means that if you want to recover something, you need to do it as soon as possible.
Which answer surprised you the most? Are there any other interesting questions you would like to know the answers to?
