Our internal monologues can go as fast as 400 words per minute and most of the time we don’t realize we’re doing it. Not getting anxious and ignoring some stress can make our self image a lot better, because there is less negative self-talk.
#2 Our brain may perceive bad news from around the globe as a threat
In this day and age there’s always some crisis somewhere that demands attention. Even if it doesn’t affect us directly, our brain can still perceive it as a threat.
Lay off the news and go on an information diet once in a while. It can do wonders for your stress levels, improve your sleep and ease your chronic fatigue.
#3 Littlest things that distract you are actually a HUGE problem!
Ignoring stimuli in our surroundings is the best way to concentrate. Actively avoiding distractors has been shown to be more effective at helping you focus than simply trying to get your brain to concentrate more intensely.
#4 Choosing only few things to concentrate on is a good idea!
Paying attention to fewer things means that what’s left gets much more focus. This way you can actually achieve more by doing less.
No one is perfect but if you want to improve performance or simply be better at being a friend or a spouse, limiting the things you pay attention to can work miracles.
