8 funny things we all did as children (and some of us are still doing)

I did some of those but we had many others that we did. First of all we didn't have digital clocks, we had the oldkind that you would wind with a key. They chimed on the half hour & hour. We had at least 9 in our house so when they went of it was a cacophony of sound. Our rule was that when the clocks chimed, your feet couldn't be touching the floor. We nearly killed ourselves jumping on chairs, countertops, window ledges, etc. I haven't thought about that in years. P.S. Whenever we had friends spend the night, they would jump straight out of the bed when the clocks all started chiming. It was hilarious! We were used to them so we never even noticed.

I also took a pinch of salt in my right hand, threw it over my left shoulder then bowed three to Diana (the moon).

When I’m anxious I catch myself counting my footsteps. I’ve been doing that a lot lately!

Made sure all dolls and stuffed animals were cozy at night in case they came alive at night

Growing up in Australia I never had the chance to step on thin ice puddles.

We used to pop tar bubbles on the road when they formed due to hot weather.

Roast ants with a magnifying glass.

Paula Salem, I pick up pennies no matter which is up. My philosophy is a penny is the foundation to a million dollars, the more you save the more money in the bank. Grew up in the shadow of two depression era parents that saved were ever they could and instilled that saver aspect in me. Millionaires aren't born, they learn by work and saving.

I still will pick up a “heads up” penny. If it’s tails, I will turn it over and leave it.

I was an adult by the time digital clocks came around. But I seem to remember a poem about not stepping on the cracks - one from A.A.Milne.

Step on thin ice puddled

Climbing to the top of a tree convinced we could touch a cloud. Using the staircase to slide down on trays or giant stuffed toys. Making telephones out of tinned cans and string.

Kathryn Brooks, we used to say something like that too. "Touch your collar, don't swallow, never die in an ambulance". Lol.

lmoores, I'm so sorry you've missed it. The crunch is so satisfying.

I avoided cracks but Also always crossed the crack with the same leg, otherwise I'd feel out of balance.

Actually I don’t remember doing any of these things.
