They're heroic, they're handsome, they're charming and talented. All of them featured in the most iconic Western movies ever filmed. Today we want to remember the greatest screen cowboys of all time. Which of them is YOUR favorite?
#1 Gary Cooper
Do you remember "The Virginian" (1929)? The legendary film became one of the first well-known westerns, bringing Cooper wide popularity. His fruitful career lasted for more than 3 decades. Some people say there is still no cowboy handsomer than him.
#2 John Wayne
This is a man who needs absolutely no introduction. John Wayne has been always associated with the genre and became one of the best known screen cowboys in the world. By the way, his first big movie "The Big Trail" (1930) was a complete commercial failure, after which Wayne was relegated to small roles in A-pictures (he even played a corpse in "The Deceiver"). Almost a decade later Wayne appeared in "Stagecoach" (1939) and dominated the genre thereafter.
#3 Henry Fonda
Everyone remembers legendary Wyatt Earp from "My Darling Clementine" (1946). Anyway, he didn't always portray upright men - in his first westerns he played real criminals ("Jesse James" [1939] and "The Return of Frank James" [1940]). Fonda was a prominent star of both screen and stage for more than 5 decades.

#4 Randolph Scott
He is still remembered as one of the most laconic and impassive western actors. Randolph spent more than 3 decades in cowboy-films, usually playing honest and quiet-talking heroes. In his career he made more than 100 movies, and half of them were westerns.
#5 James Arness
The man who portrayed Marshal Matt Dillon in "Gunsmoke" became a true legend. For years and years his character was always there to keep law and order on the streets of Dodge City, making Arness one of the most recognizable western heroes of all time.
#6 Roy Rogers
"The Roy Rogers Show", being more contemporary than the "old West" cowboy TV shows, became one of the greatest and best known projects of a kind. The series ran from the beginning of 1951 through most of 1957. The handsome "King of Cowboys", who was also a talented singer, still remains one of the most recognizable singing cowboys of his epoch.
#7 Clint Eastwood
He is usually referred to as the most stylish film cowboy. Eastwood reached stardom after Sergio Leone's spaghetti western trilogy. Doing this movies was a risky decision, but, as we know, Eastwood's work brought the genre into a whole new world and made him a real superstar. "Fistful of dollars" (1964), "For A Few Dollars More" (1965) and "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" (1966) are now considered iconic, and Eastwood is known as one of the most talented and influential actors in history.
Do you like westerns? Which of these actors do you like most? Do you know any interesting or important facts about them? Would you add someone to this list?
Tom Seleck should be on the list for 'Quigley Down Under' and the Louis Lamour westerns. Robert Redford was in two iconic Westerns-'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' and 'Jeramiah Johnson'...
DID YOU KNOW THAT RANDOLPH SCOTT WAS GAY? HE AND HIS PARTNER, CARY GRANT MARRIED A COUPLE OF LESBIANS, ALSO MATES, AND LED IMPECCABLE LIVES FREE OF SCANDAL. GRANT, HOWEVER, EVENTUALLY MARRIED A GIRL AND SIRED A GIRL.,
There needs to be a few others on this list like Audie Murphy, Rory Calhoun, Hop along Cassidy, Lone Ranger, Tom Mix, Glen Ford to mention a few. How about the Cartwrights, the Barkleys, Big John Cannon and family.
The Oscars have been around for over 90 years. Throughout its history many actors have walked the red carpet in some of the most lovely, bizarre, and unforgettable looks. It was difficult to narrow it down to just couple of looks but I choose based on the look’s memorability, influence, and timelessness.
In this post, we'll be showing you instances where favorite actors were forced to learn a new skill in order to perform iconic roles – some of these are absolutely unbelievable!
Being one of the most brilliant actors of our time, he is also known for his unique view of life, expressive paintings and powerful sayings. These quotes by Jim Carrey will definitely deeply touch your heart.
