Peculiarities of world's least friendly countries

Most countries in the world are happy to have visitors. Here is the list of countries that are not easy to visit for Americans and some other nations in the world. The terms of access to some of them are also provided. Be sure to keep in mind those places on the planet to prevent any problems.
1. Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia requires all visitors should be sponsored by a legal resident. However, even if you meet all the requirements, it doesn't guarantee that you will get your visa.
2. Iran
You can try to secure an Iranian visa through the Pakistani embassy in Washington but you will need to prove that you're travelling with a tour group. The reason is that since 1979, Iran doesn't have an American Embassy due to some political incident.
3. North Korea
There is no North Korean Embassy in Washington - if you want a visa you'll get it through China before booking your tour. Besides, you have to book a full package tour before visiting and stay with your guides the entire time.
4. Syria
Syrian visa has to be approved through a complex process, thus those who want to attend Syria wait in the line for an indefinitely long time. It's almost impossible to get a visa to Syria.
5. Cuba
You have only one way of getting into Cuba - you have to prove you have official reasons for visiting. Otherwise, the current travel regulations don't let anyone to book a flight.
6. Somalia
If a great number of pirates doesn't scare you, you'll need an invitation and a sponsor to get a visa to Somalia.
7. Angola
You have to spend quite a lot of money before you even know if you're allowed to visit Angola. At first you pay the application fee and the invitation fee, book plane tickets and room in a hotel. Only then you can apply for visa.
8. Algeria
This is another country that wants you to pay in advance. You have to book a hotel, get the special certificate of accommodation, then you get your invitation. When all the things are complete, you are free to apply for the visa.

Interesting that the comment on Iran says '..an incident in 1979..' the 'incident' was just after the revolution that ousted the Shah, and a group of Iranian students held 52 American diplomats and employees hostage for 444 days.

Except for Cuba I have no interest in visiting those countries and by the way we can visit Cuba any time as a tourist but then I’m a Canadian.

This, sadly, demonstrates isolationism at its worst. Most of the countries shown here a Muslim countries (exceptions are N. Korea and Cuba) who need to carefully monitor anyone coming into their countries. The news is full of stories about bombings and other forms of treachery. I hope someday will come a peaceful coexistence between all nations and all religious affiliations, God willing.

Raniah Capetilo, Saudi Arabia is a very strict, conservative country. The men and women must eat separately. The women are not allowed to go out alone and must always be accompanied by a male relative. The thieves can get their hand chopped off. The crime rate there is low, though.

obviously an American example, Cuba is probably one of the friendliest and safest countries I’ve visited, it’s the American Gov that does not want its citizens spending money there and fining them because of imposed sanctions. Last I read a $5000 fine for visiting the country. I will however say it’s certainly not a Disneyland

I visited Cuba and as a Canadian it was no problem. A Canadian friend went to Syria before their war began and had no issues. But who’d want to go now? And certainly the other countries I’d have no desire to visit anyways
