Most mysterious unsolved disappearances of all time

Eilean Mor is a remote island that was uninhabited apart from its lighthouse keepers. Captain James Harvey was in charge of the ship that carried Joseph Moore, a replacement housekeeper. When the ship reached the landing platform, no one was waiting for their arrival.

Joseph Moore entered the lighthouse, he found half eaten food and overturned chair. No sign of the lighthouse keepers was found. The Captain arranged a search team to find the missing men on the island. However, it was in vain.

It refers to an unsolved missing persons case. In 1992, Suzie Streeter, her friend Stacy McCall and Suzie’s mother, Sherrill Levitt, disappeared from Levitt’s home in Springfield, Missouri. The women left all of their personal belongings, including cars and purses. Only a porch light globe was broken.

McCall’s mother, Janis, was the first to sound the alarm. She visited the house after failed attempts to reach her daughter by phone. Janis called police. However, the officers could do nothing.

Since 1992, there have been several anonymous calls. People assured the officers that they knew where the missing women were. However, bodies were not found. Streeter and Levitt were declared legally dead in 1997. However, their case files are still officially filed under “missing”.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1945, a fire destroyed the Sodder home in West Virginia. The house was occupied by George Sodder, his wife Jennie and nine of their ten children. During the fire, George and Jennie tried to save their children. The parents took four children outside. However, the other 5 children disappeared. Their bodies have never been found.

The Sodders believed for the rest of their lives that the 5 missing children survived. George and Jennie converted the site into a memorial garden. Later they even put up a billboard with pictures of the five, offering a reward for information.

It denotes an area of southwestern Vermont within which a number of people went missing.

• 74-year-old Middie Rivers disappeared while hunting. He was guiding a group of four hunters. On the way back, Rivers got ahead of the group and was never seen again. Though he was an experienced hunter and was familiar with the local area.
• Paula Jean Welden disappeared in 1946. She had set out for a hike. An extensive search was conducted when the girl didn’t return to the college campus. However, no evidence of her was ever found.
• James Tedford disappeared in 1949. He was returning home to the Bennington Soldiers Home on the local bus. According to witnesses, he was still on the bus at the last stop before arriving in Bennington. Tedford vanished between the last stop and Bennington. His belongings were still in the luggage rack.

He Jiankui is a Chinese biophysics researcher. He became widely known in 2018 after he had claimed that he had created the first human genetically-edited babies.

Chinese authorities called for an immediate halt to his experiments, which they described as “extremely abominable in nature”. Dr He Jiankui was fired. Later he went missing.
