The smell of freshly mown grass, pies baking in the oven, lipstick, and yeast all bring memories of growing up and family.

Nothing stays the same and we all become nostalgic about it.

Home sickness is part of it but it is much much more. Positive elements certainly outweigh the negative is handled properly. I am nostalgic for a time when we talked to people rather than wrote senseless comments on the internet.

We've all experienced nostalgia and for most it's a pleasant feeling but for some it can trigger agony. If a person sees his/her life as rotten and not worth living and then remembers times past when things were pleasurable, sunny and bright he/she may sink into a deep depression knowing that life will never be like that again.
