Unfortunately, I think that in the end, there will be more seniors than there is money to support them. At some point, WE/THEY will be disposed of. My parents both lived to be 91 and both had health issues, in comarison, I am healther and am now 76. How long will I live, only God knows! I have already informed my children that should I be diagnosed with some life ending condition I will not seek treatment. I have had a good life, the love of my life is gone. I know where I'm going and I'm ready to go.

Your genetics determines how long you will live. Telomeres(DNA) divides until they can not any more and you die of natural causes. Medicine does prolong the quality of life if the genetic predisposition is that of long life.

Yesterday is over…we made it! Tomorrow is not here yet, and not promised. Today is a gift, make the most of it as we have no idea when our time will be up. Where are you heading??

deborahpmercer, She even met a Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh in France and found him dirty and rude. Passed away in Aug 1997 when I was 39. She was born in 1875. Now, none of people born in 1899 or earlier are alive.

I'm 84 soon to be 85 and I am grateful for the years in excess to those of many of my friends and family. Witnessing the loss of family and friends is the downside of these extra years.

Quality of life is important as we get older. What’s the point of living when your mind is gone, you have to get your diapers changed, you don’t know your loved ones anymore? It’s important to look after our health so that we can enjoy every year we do live but when it’s time to go, why prolong it?

I think this is just part of the new world order that is trying to depopulate the planet. Improvements in replacement parts and advancing will allow people to live to 150 in the next 50 years

Many live too long already. Often just a shell with nothing left.

Kathryn Cavanagh, The bible is just another book written and an interpretation by other humans. The bible was not written by Jesus nor any God. God only gave us the 10 commandments. That is all we really need.

yes genetics determines it to a large extent as well as the diet and lifestyle you have in your formative years. In fact the diet and lifestyle seems to prove that that is the way to go. I know of several older men who have vanquished the 80s quite easily whilst their parents never managed it beyond the late 50s - all down to lifestyle. It is a dilemma....I suspect the brain could last longer, if nurtured, but what good is a brain without a body?

The DNA is very important, but also the will to survive the difficult situations that one encounter in life. It is a combination of factors that keep one going, and to take good care of your health and mind is one of them. As a child I was very sick as I was as an adult. But I am still here, functioning better than anyone else at my age. A very interesting piece of information!
