Eve , American spelling doesn't need correction. Among sophisicated and educated citizens of the world, it is considered as correct as British spelling is, just different. Standardized spelling was developed almost concurrently, on both sides of the Atlantic, at a time when instant communication was not possible. It is only natural that there would be differences. In fact, American spellings are more intuitive and nearer the way Americans speak, without much of the French influence of many silent letters that British spellings have. "Programme/program" is a prime example. What purpose do the second "m" and the "e" serve?

Sunflower Lover, There were 7 UK spellings and 8 US spellings. Would you have been happier had the ratio been reversed? SMH

I deliberately chose the opposite answers and scored 100% correct. SMH I'm so tired of this reverse scoring nonsense! 👎

Hmmm. I am Canadian and I spell many words in the British style. You would think that after 71 years I would have learned to use the American spelling of words such as favourite or neighbour but I just can't lose the habit and find myself correcting the spelling in my head when I read these words, lol
