Atul Kalra,
The answer IS 26.
The men each walk 5 feet in opposite directions, putting 10 feet between them.
If they each turn right and walk 12 feet, then they are walking in opposite directions again, meaning they put a distance of 24 feet between them.
Using the Pythagorean theorem, we figure the two sides of the right triangle they form are 10 feet and 24 feet.
10² + 24² = 26²
100 + 576 = 676

Hernando Villegas,
Yes, the correct answer is given, but the results are wrong. The correct answer is 26 feet.

For question no 11, the correct answer is not given on the list of answers. Obviously, the correct answer is between 15 and 16, which is the square root of 244.

I thought I was going crazy with Q11 until I got to here. The rest were pretty easy for this type of quiz (as was Q11 except someone got the answer incorrect).

12 / 15. You have a high IQ! However, it seems that the answer to question 11 is 26. If so, my score is 13/15! same score as last time!

I disagree with the supposed correct answer of 13 to #11. The triangle created has one side of 10' and the other side of 24'. The hypotenuse, or the distance between the two men, correctly is 26'.

charlie, but there are TWO 5,12,13 right triangles. Person 1 may go 5 mi EAST and 12 mi SOUTH and is 13 mi from START. Person 2 goes 5 mi WEST and 12 mi NORTH and is 13 mi from START. They are 26 miles apart.
