All the responders noting the error in the 2 men stroll answer saved me the hassle of explaining the Pythagoras law. I therefore scored 15/15. Shame on the quiz giver.

14/15. Would have been perfect if it wasn't for the two men.

JPoblette, using 10 percent of our brain is a fallacy. Everyone uses all of their brain.

I see the hypotenuse of the triangle for each man as Root(12sq plus 5sq) ie 169 thus 13 Remember the points intersect the distance between the men at 5.

Buddy Novotney, I agree 13 is the length of one of the hypotenuses of the 2 right angle triangles that can be formed between the 2 people. 13 therefore has to be multiplied by 2.

The answer to question 11 is wrong. The correct anseer is 26 and not 13. It is arrived at by the Pythagorian Theorem, a squared plus b squared equals c squared. The distances walked are a and b. a is 10 feet (5 feet doubled since each man walks 5.feet away from the other) and b is 24 feet since each man walks 12 feet in opposite directions). Therefore, 10 squared or 100 plus 24 squared or 576 equals 676. The square root of 676 is 26, not 13.

14/15 but the answer for the two men is 26, not 13. Also, the math strings are correct.

finsfone, 13 feet is wrong because it doesn't state how far are they from their starting point. Good old pythagoras states The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides. Therefore... 10x10=100. 24x24=576. 576+100=676. Square root of 676= 26!
