Eve , The answer is correct. There is only one correct method used to solve equations. It must be universal or imagine the confusion among mathematicians and scientists around the world. Communication would be impossible. Whatever you like to call it, BODMAS or PEMDAS, it is all the same. • You solve inside the Brackets or Parentheses first. • Then Orders/Exponents. • Then Division/Multiplication. These operations are of equal importance and are done IN THE ORDER THEY APPEAR IN THE EQUATION FROM LEFT TO RIGHT! One or the other are not necessarily done before the other. It depends upon how the equation is written. • Finally, we do Addition and Subtraction IN THE ORDER THEY APPEAR IN THE EQUATION FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. Mathematicians around the world solve equations in exactly the same way. When you stray from this method, you get a different/WRONG answer.

Richard D. Boyle, Thank you Richard! Math was my favorite subject in school. I could usually solve this kind of equation in my head. I was generally the star of my math classes with a straight A average from 6th grade on up.

9 / 10. I don’t think that the maths question is correct!it depends on the rules used! So I really think that I got 10/10!

Denny Quigley, You must follow the rules/order of operations: multiply and divide first then add and subtract. The only time you wouldn't follow that is if Parenthesis are there.
