mescall, Yes it is. Alaska is the Northern most, Westernmost, and Easternmost US state. It is Easternmost because some of the Aleutian Islands cross 180° of longitude, putting them in the Eastern hemisphere, which is East of the Western Hemisphere wherein Maine is situated.

The question about the longest distances. Quiz club says The Great Wall of China but that is not true. The Dingo Fence in Australia is longer.

Alan Conyard, Ecuador is nearest to SPACE. It's highest peak, Chimborazo,is farthest from the center of the planet, because the Earth is an oblate spheroid. The Earth is not a perfectly round sphere. It bulges at the equator.

Shelley Durocher, I would offer all of them the same advice.

Parts of Alaska (the Aleutian Islands) straddle the 180 degree longitude line. Hence Alaska is both the most western and eastern US state as well as being the most northern.
