David Smith, especially when in comes to America US gallons are smaller than the old Imperial gallon and virtually every other non metric unit of measure is different to anywhere else in the world. I just remembered that a quart was quarter of a gallon of 8 pints. Then the only logical answer is 4 i.e. 4 half pints making up 2 pints.

Gail Cusack, Yes I missed the Senator question as it seems a bit unfair that a state with say say 3 million inhabitants has the dame number of senators as a state with 50 million inhabitants.

Louella Wilson, I agree with you but it is a quarter of a gallon so it is 2 pints. Meaning that the only logical answer is 4. However the test is obviously designed for Americans and issues like who signed the constitution is not easily known by non Americans. There was another question that was so American that it was very difficult for a non American.

This is not a 7th Grade Exam in my country. You would have to be 70+ to remember what a quart is. Though the name does suggest that it is a quarter of something. But what?

Missed all the American questions - how many Americans would know how long a Governor Generals term is in New Zealand (or anywhere else) ??

Hope Less, while that is certainly true, fast can only be an adverb in certain situations but is usually an adjective. Conversely abruptly can only ever be an adverb.

Hope Less, I agree that fast can be an adverb but it does depend on context, while abrupt,y can only ever be an adverb.

David Smith, only four of the ten questions are directly related to the US. While I agree that those questions required a working knowledge of American history/culture, three of them were pretty common knowledge to most people who have a working knowledge of how their own country’s political systems evolved. As an Aussie I know as much about the US political system as I do about the Westminster system. The quart one however, is far outside common knowledge.
