8/9. Thank you for the answers. I am a Canadian who takes an interest in American politics and have learned quite a lot over the years by reading and watching the news.

Richard D. Boyle, Who is the ninth president born before the US was declared an independent country? I count only eight of the first nine presidents who were born before 1776 as British subjects–George Washington B.1732, John Adams B.1735, Thomas Jefferson B.1743, James Madison B.1751, James Monroe B.1758, John Quincy Adams B.1767, Andrew Jackson B.1767, and after Van Buren, the eighth president who was born in 1782, William Henry Harrison B.1773, the ninth president and the eighth to be born before 1776.

John D Thomas, That wasn't the question. Only ONE president, FDR, served "OVER" (more than) two terms. He died during his FOURTH term.

Now if only we'd had someone like Queen Elizabeth to look after us for 70 years we'd have had much less problems and turmoil. What a magnificent lady!
