Nothing wonderful about reading backwards. In the stone ages before computer generated images, naval wives would moonlight as plotters on the screens at the Navy's School of maritime Warfare and Tactics. They stood behind the transparent screens and wrote backwards.

I find it easier to read when the letters themselves are backwards, not just the spelling.

I have read Catcher in the Rye dozens of times, because I taught it to my ninth grade English classes. Not a fan of fiction despite this.
