#5 - I learned to use the "and" to separate the dollars and cents when writing money values.

I see both American and non-American comments on both sides of the correctness of #5. I thought the "and" was correct. That's how I would have said it. However, that doesn't mean I'm right. So, can someone provide a definitive answer, and perhaps let me know if it is phrasing that could be location based?

The answer for #5 is incorrect. "And" indicates a decimal, and there is none in this number. The last option is the closest choice, although the comma is not necessary.

Disagree with #5 - Do not use "and". With a dollar amount the "and" is used between the dollars and the cents.

In America we were all taught it was incorrect to use the word “and” in the verbal form of numbers. My 6th grade math(s) teacher would have had a fit over question 5

John Alford, AND is not where you put the decimal point. How weird!

Never heard of that. I was a maths teacher for 45 years, blbarnes, Is that an American thing? AND never refers to a decimal point.

In q5 there should be a comma after the word thousand, and the word and shouldn't be capitalised.

Jerry Edwards, That's the one I chose because it was the closest to reality. If the comma were to used anywhere in that number, it would be between the thousand and five, but we all know that a comma isn't used when spelling out numbers.
