cdowdy aks, Simple do the bracket first, 4-2=2. Then do division 2 / 2 = 1, then do 8 + 1 = 9 8 + 2 / (4-2)

jcdangusa, You did the addition before the division. That was your mistake. 4 - 2 = 2 Brackets first 2/2 = 1 Division is next 8 + 1 = 9 Addition is the final operation in this equation. 9 is the correct answer.
