Rob Farr, Would you explain the math problems for everyone who struggled? I understood the triangle, the race, and the line graph. The others eluded me. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Steve Preston, That question asked: what fraction of the race does the driver still have to complete? You are correct in your math, not in what they were asking. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Mary Clem Rossee Black, They were looking for the value of k? I thought there should be only one variable. I have asked the people who answered the math problems correctly on this test to explain them. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Frndreno, Wow! I remember telling the ninth grade teacher I was lost in algebra. I think I could manage sixth grade math and a lot of geometry problems. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

gjbrodkey, #5 was the only math question I understood. We had to plot the first line and use the point for the second line to create a parallel line to the first. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

cswinhart, The graph question is the only math question I fully understood how to solve. I did it on scrap paper. I put the points on the graph for the first line and drew the first line through them. Then, I put the point on the graph for the next line and drew a parallel line to the first line, passing through that point. The only number on the y-axis that fit was 2. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Jim Maloney, We had to solve for a, by plotting the two points in the other line and determining which point in a line that passes through (-2,0) would be parallel to that line. Please see my comment to Erick Avidson. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Anne Tisdell, I wrote another comment to you about all the math problems that confused me. Would you mind checking my comment to Erick Avidson about Question #5? That is one that I graphed and understood. I have asked R Yancey for an explanation of three others. He already gave the process for the language question. Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Eric Arvidson , The points for the other line, (2,0) and (4,2) made a line that passed through (0,-4) and (-2,-6). For a line including (-2,0) to be parallel to that, it must pass through (0,2). I was completely lost in four math questions, but I managed to graph this one. Did you understand 8, 13, 14, or 15? Thank you, Christine, James' wife

R Yancey, Would you also explain the other three math problems I mentioned in my comment to Anne Tisdell? What was I doing incorrectly? Thank you, Christine, James' wife

Anne Tisdell, I hope someone who understands math will validate us, if we are right about four of the math questions. One added a k with x. The only number that worked for me in the equation with only x was 6. How could a five digit number that begins with 213 have a remainder of less than ten? Dividing 213 by 10 is 21 already? In the A,B,C,D question, I think we would need values, because A, B, and D all may be zero, or some of them could be zero, I think. Finally, there is a problem with the subtraction. 80-62 is not 36. Are these the discrepancies you found? I like so much that the author gave the answers, and liked the pictures used, but then I came to the second math problem. Thank you, Christine, James' wife
