5 retro toys from the 70s that we loved
I grew up in the 70s and today I want to share with you my favorite toys from my childhood. If you’re really into the 70’s, keep on reading the article!
#1 The Weebles
Do you remember these strange round creatures? The tiny toys were super popular in the 70s, but these creatures had an even bigger advantage with their movements. The Weebles are round characters that almost look like eggs. My family of Weebles was made of Dad, Mom, brother, sister, baby and a dog. However, nowadays you can find all kinds of wobbling characters out there.
#2 Atari 2600
Every 70s kid will remember being excited over Atari 2600. It is the first home gaming console that started it all. The console came with simple games like “Pac-Man” and “Video Olympics” but still it was one of the most exciting things. It showed what technologies would look like in the future.
#3 Hungry Hungry Hippos
This 70s toy was probably replaced by much more stimulating games. But it definitely still brings up a lot of nostalgia for those who grew up in the 70s. It is designed to be played by up to four players.
#4 Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots
If you grew up after the 70s, you’ve probably seen this game in a lot of old kids movies. It was a perfect toy to release your aggression. The concept was pretty simple. You were supposed to press the buttons as fast as possible to make the two figures in the boxing ring fight. The one that’s able to take out the head of the other wins the game. I have a feeling that modern kids would be impressed by this toy as well.
#5 Stretch Armstrong
This toy is just a little bit creepy but it’s my favourite. Modern kids love things like stretchy slime, however, I’m not sure how they’d feel about Stretch Armstrong. You can easily stretch this toy and tie it in all kinds of knots. The best part of it was that it always went back to its original shape in just a few seconds. It surely sounds like an awesome stress-release toy.
