The heck with mall Santas, if I ever played a Santa, I would go to children's hospitals and nursing homes. I can't handle the malls especially around Christmas time. I do respect the mall Santas, and the fact they don't go postal too often

I am surprised that they have someone meet them outside the mall to protect them. I guess it has gotten that bad. Too sad

Actually.. most mall Santas change in a special room in the mall office. So when they leave no one knows who they are. At least that's what the ones down here I sw Florida do. It's also too hot for them to wear them outside. Same with hospital Santas.

Well I know they can't say Ho Ho Ho anymore. Originally we were told it's because it might scare children - as if???? But actually it's now deemed derogatory to women. Other new rules: Kiddies can't sit on Santa's knee in case he does some inappropriate touching, he can't ask whether the kid has been naughty or nice, and it's just a matter of time before he will no longer be able to address them as boys and girls.

Spencer, I've played Santa before, but only in a Department Store. When I wasn't on duty, I visited the hospitals. Even older sick people love Santa, not just kids.

A friend of mine is a Macy's santa. It is not easy. He is required to be a natural bearded santa so he lets it grow out then it has to be bleached white. At the end of the season which is about a month he will loose around 25 pounds from the heat of the suit and the lights. We have gone to see him at work and he is awesome he loves what he does!

My wife and I do the Santa thing as a team. We have a great time. If kids recognise us we say we are like super heros -- have to be in disguise most of the time.

My little girl spent her childhood believing in Santa. When she's old enough to understand, she feels betrayed.

Carmine-James Pitaniello Yes I totally agree, that's why I included nursing homes. My mother was in one and I remember the joy everyone had when Santa stopped by, their faces lit up brighter than the Christmas tree lights

I wouldn't be able to handle the mall!! I just don't like to shop I go to a store with a list then I'm done. But as a Santa I would go to hospitals and nursing homes.
